I bought this hoosier-style cabinet at an auction today.   Only $60 bucks... I think it was a steal but my hubby thinks I was had... And, my daughter-in-law just offered me $100 for it as is.   I am excited to
start refinishing it!

It is in pretty good shape.   Obviously it needs stripped and there is a broken glass panel, and the large drawer is worn out. But the flour bin is in excellent condition and that is a major plus!!!

I also got lots and lots of fabric, quilting notions, etc. And in the bottom of one of the boxes was a new Black & Decker iron!!!  Whoo-Hoo!!!!

....last day of school.  Well, it was actually a 1/2 day of in-service.  I sure will miss my 'Snicklefritz's' but I have a very busy summer planned.    Chase will be with me most of the summer- at least until his baby brother is born.   My landscaping will be done soon and I will be in the gardens and beds as much as my back will allow. And of course there are quilts to be made and puppies to love!!!
I have a number of BOM's and quilt alongs started, but I found another that should be fun, easy, and make me more honest in my piecing.   I have a tendency to take shortcuts and make up the rules as I go, but with this one I hereby promise to follow all the rules/steps!   LOL

Did it for the continuing ed credits... but...

I started to blog/journal for the credit hours, but I will probably continue to post... I may have no followers (except Bonnie (thanks, Bonnie!)) but I kinda like a format that isn't FB!

I finished the quilt  (I'll post pictures later) and I finished 2 sock monkeys.   Now to tackle several purses.   I bought 18 blazers at the Salvation Army to make into purses.  I told Hubby that I could make some $$$... He is now 'harassing' me to get them done!   I still have a few baby quilts to make within the next few months, but I feel less pressure now that school is almost over...

Today in Pre-K, we were talking about caterpillars... one of my munchkins said, "... and then they crawl into their raccoons!"   I love my job!!!!  I chuckle at comments they make every single day!!!   I know I'm crazy, but I sure will miss them this summer!

Summer... the best thing about this summer is time with my grandsons!   Yeah! I will have Chase most of the summer and our newest family member will be joining us in July.   I can hardly wait!!!   In fact, I may not be so anxious for the next school year to start....

Awesome website for a quilter... http://www.craftsy.com
Free tutorials and lots of neat ideas.   I enjoy pinterest.com immensely, but Craftsy is more of a crafts based site.   Check it out!

15 more days of school.... Yikees!

It is so hard to believe that we have just 15 school days until Summer vacation!   So many assessments and evals to be done and not a lot of time to do them.... They WILL be done, but I will be hopping!!!

On the homefront, I have been working hard on the Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt... Free-motion machine quilting is fairly new to me so it is a slow process (with lots of 'quality' time with my seam rippers!)   However Eric Carle panels are somewhat abstract and rustic, so precision is not a must! Several sock monkeys, diapers, and quilts yet to do......

I am excited to have a very talented  lady starting my landscaping this week.  She plans to come for a consultation on Wednesday- if it stops raining till then.   She and her daughters will weed and plant, making it easier for me to maintain.   After about 4 years of neglect I am ready for it!!!!

10 days till Charlotte!!!!  Woo-Hooo!   Jeff, Mit, and I will be heading down as soon as I can get out of school.

So much accomplished today!

Great Saturday... I got the house cleaned, laundry done, garage and patio/porch cleaned, and Jeff washed the windows!   Homemade potato soup and a Rubin for supper.   And, I made chocolate drizzled popcorn for Mother's Day!   Now for some time in the quilting room... I hope to have the Very Hungry Caterpillar quilt ready for binding tomorrow!   I'll post pictures when it is complete.

It has been a while since I wrote anything... not because there isn't anything to say... but because I have been so busy!!!!
Quilts~~~The quilt bid is now at $1,700!!!!   I am in shock... and they tell me the bidding war isn't over yet!   Praise God!   Finished the quilt for Baby Manges, did 3 BOMs, a purse and looking for patterns for my next baby quilt (need this one by Memorial weekend!)
School~~~ only 19 days left and still so much to do.   I need to be assessing and yet there are so many end of the year assemblies, activities, and early dismissals.   The kids are so silly and ready for a break.   I'm ready for Summer break too, but I hate to think how much I'll miss them.
Dogs~~~I gave the "3 Mutt-ska-teers" baths this evening.   What a job!!!   An hour to bath them and my back is killing me!!!   But, 3 clean dogs are worth it.  Oh, and I had to washed the bedding and rugs too!

Friday!

Stayed up late last night to finish the quilt for the NE Church of the Brethren's parking lot project.   I am glad to finally get it finished... it was interesting doing the research on the different blocks and I loved the way the colors came together.   However, it was one of those projects that gave me fits- with points that didn't always come together right, and blocks that were not the right size, and not enough fabric...
I just hope people are willing to bid on it.....

Cute kiddo conversation this week-
He asked for a "mind-finding glass" to look at the recently hatched praying mantas.   (For those of you who do not speak 4 year-old, that is a magnifying glass!)

Hi!   Welcome to my page!   I am a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in a public school in Pennsylvania.   My passions are kids... especially my grandkids- a 6 year old grandson and his (still incubating) brother & my school kiddos, quilting, my dogs... 2 pugs and an English bulldog, cooking, and reading.   I'm sure my posts will be mainly random thoughts and maybe a sprinkle of humorous kiddo comments or doggie antics.   Having a 6 year old grandson and a class full of 4 and 5 year olds makes for some pretty funny stuff!!!!
